James Dearien started at Davis and Elkins College in July, 2006 and serves as the head athletic trainer.

At Davis and Elkins College he has worked as an athletic trainer for all sports and as an adjunct instructor teaching athletic training courses as well as anatomy labs.

Mr. Dearien was born in Martinsburg, WV and attended Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, West Virginia where he played baseball. He graduated from The University of Kansas in 2001 and earned a master's degree from Marshall University in 2005.

While at Marshall, Mr. Dearien worked as a student athletic trainer for Charleston Area Medical Center as an athletic trainer for South Charleston High School. After graduation he spent one year as an assistant athletic trainer at HealthSouth under the guidance of Joe Blauser.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and West Virginia Athletic Trainer Society.
