MEN'S BASKETBALL COMES UP JUST SHORT
INSTITUTE, WV - Corey Bethea scored 24 points while adding five rebounds and five assists to lead West Virginia State to a 83-79 win over Davis & Elkins in men's basketball action Wednesday night.
D&E led 42-39 at halftime and the game was tied with two minutes left but the Senatorscame up just short.
Senior guard PJ Turner led the Senators with 24 points, eight assists and four steals.
Senior guard Ian Pinckney added 19 points while junior guard D'Quan Lynch and senior forward Malik Tinsley finished 10 points each. Tinsley added 10 rebounds.
David Ford and Howard Douglas III each scored 16 points for the Yellow Jackets.
D&E falls to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the conference, while State improves to 5-5 and 3-3.
The Senators travel to Philippi Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Alderson-Broaddus.
