MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS UPJ IN WVIAC TOURNAMENT

BUCKHANNON, WV -Freshman David Nuernberg scored two goals Tuesday night to lead the Davis & Elkins men's soccer team, currently ranked No.  22 in the latest NSCAA poll, to a 3-1 win over UPJ in the WVIAC Tournament. 

Freshman Humberto Bertran put D&E on the scoreboard first when he controlled a rebound off a David Nuernberg shot and headed the ball into the back of the net at the 21:48 mark.

Nuernberg scored his first goal of the game in the 71st minute to give D&E a 2-0 lead.

UPJ answered in the 77th minute when Zeke Buchta scored to cut the margin to 2-1.

Nuernberg sealed the win for the Senators at the 88:13 mark to conclude the scoring.

Junior goalkeeper Moises Oseguera went the distance in the net and recorded two saves.

D&E improves to 12-5-1 and UPJ falls to 7-9.  The Senators will face Charleston on the road Thursday at 7 p.m.
