SOFTBALL DEFEATS BOWIE STATE ON SUNDAY

SALEM, VA -The Davis & Elkins softball team defeated Bowie State 14-6 on Sunday, the last day of the West Virginia Wesleyan tournament.

Pitcher Alanna Jones earned the win as she went five innings on the mound, allowing three hits and striking out four.  Autumun Appleby pitched one inning in relief and struck out two batters.

Amanda Serafini led the offense as she blasted two home runs and finished 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs.

Lizzy Williamson went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Jenifer Kennon went 2-for-3 with a run scored and one RBI.

The Senators received one hit each from Daniella Vineyard, Carissa Dunn, Mallory Wishard, Devony Pugh, Bridget Ours, and Kaitlyn Daughtery.

D&E improves to 13-12 and Bowie State falls to 5-7.  The Senators will host Southern Virginia on Tuesday at 2 and 4.
